Well this year's CAT - CAT 2007 had no surprises.

The IIMs stuck to their 3 section 75 mark pattern introduced last year.

Questions on the quantitative section were a bit tougher than the ones that appeared in CAT 2006. Even then, there were 15 to 16 questions that can be solved without having to rake one's brains a lot. Given the time constraint and the test pressure aspirants who make it to the IIMs would have solved 12 questions and would have got 10 or 11 right.

The cut off in the quant section is likely to be around 28 to 30.

DI was a pleasant surprise. Especially given the trend that it had taken in the previous CATs. CAT 2005 and CAT 2006 DI section had a lot of orientation towards analytical reasoning. It has been toned down substantially this time. 3 sets were solvable. 12 plus questions were easy to crack in the DI section.

A cut of 36 to 38 should be expected for this section.

DS, which was conspicuous by its absence in CAT 2006, has staged a comeback. Both the quant and the DI sections had their share of DS questions. 3 out 4 in each of these sections were solvable.

The verbal section retained its toughness. However, RCs did seem a bit easier compared to CAT 2006 and the Derrida passage of CAT 2005.

About 26 should be the cut off in this section.

I guess anyone who scores above 95 and clearing the cut offs mentioned should expect a couple of calls.

What next? If you think you stand a chance of getting these scores, start your GDPI prep and get a head start.
